한국인들은 아주 예전부터 자연을 사랑해, 산을 병풍삼고 뜰을 그릇삼아 한옥을 지었습니다. 디지털 가든은 이런 한국의 오랜 정서에서 시작하여 현대로 계승된'자연에 관한 이야기'이자, ‘땅’과 ‘시뮬라크’라는 세계의 집합이자, 섞임에 대한 이야기입니다. 펜더믹 이후로 디지털 환경을 ‘인식’하는 계기가 되었고, 물질적 노출되는 세계가 ‘겹치’면서 우리 시대로 스며든 디지털 세상을 보여줍니다. 꿈틀거리며 모니터에서 나온 것 같은 이미지들은 디지털 환경에서 녹아든 한국적 이미지는 형태,비형태를 불문하고 현실에서 입혀집니다. 'The Digital Garden'은 현존 속 디지털 환경으로 전환되며 벌어지는 한점에서 형태로 이어지는, 풀이 돋아나고 울창해지는 공간입니다. 이는 직장과 집까지의 '사이', 어둑해진 새벽 산책할 때의 '여백', 누군가와의 약속을 기다리는 '순간', 모든 일을 마치고 거니는 '길'에서 벌어집니다. 그럼으로써 긴 동선으로 구석구석 이루어진 'The Digital Garden'은 종착점이 아닌 ‘지나가는 길’입니다.

Koreans have long held a deep affection for nature. From ancient times, they built hanok by embracing mountains as folding screens and shaping courtyards as vessels. The Digital Garden begins from this enduring sensibility—an inherited narrative of nature carried into the present—and unfolds as a story of convergence and mixture, where land and simulacrum come together as a composite world.

In the aftermath of the pandemic, we became newly conscious of the digital environment. As the materially exposed world began to overlap with it, the digital realm quietly seeped into our era. Images that seem to have wriggled out of monitors—restless, animated—merge with Korean visual sensibilities shaped within digital environments, and are layered onto reality regardless of form or formlessness.

The Digital Garden is a space where points expand into forms, where grass begins to sprout and gradually grows dense as the digital environment transitions into lived presence.
It unfolds in the in-between spaces: between work and home, in the void of a dim pre-dawn walk, in the moment of waiting for an appointment, and along the path taken after all tasks are complete.
